Great book! I was able to learn about Carbon dating and tooth enamel geolocation thingy. Anyway, the plot was great. I finished it in a few hours with couple hours for breaks. I got hooked cos I really wanted to know who done it and why and how. Brilliant Kathy Reichs.
"Leave no path untaken." nice advice neil. Full of adventures. It took me a month to finish this coz i've been busy doin other stuffs. What is it like to be dead and learn how to live after that.
4 stars 'cause i got bored by some parts but when it started rolling again, you wont want to put it down. Mr.Martin is a great writer. you'll get you loose and then he'll pull you back and his grip will be tighter. You wont guess what will happen next. I'm planning to spread out the books until the 6th book will be out but i guess i cant wait any longer. Ahhh... decisions decisions decisions. As Tyrion Lannister puts it "Bugger them all."
totally weird. This is my first book of short stories, I was entertained, made to ponder, and I had nightmares too from reading this. Some parts are boring especially the poems, not because of Neil's writing but my liking of poems per se. Definitely, a good start of Neil's books for me.
It took me a while to finish this book. Anyway, it was a slow read for me. Got bored in the early parts of the book but it caught up once the battles began. Still, i like Tyrion here and the cleverness of the Lannisters to stay alive. I drew deep breaths and gave out some sighs of relief. I almost cried, felt anger, anxiety, and gladness while reading this. Although, Martin is quite desciptive as usual and bored me sometimes. But I commend his creativity and intellect as prowessed in his writing. Aptly titled, a clash of the kings. Definitely, i'm off to read the third book.
The writing style was good and no lenghty narrations that will bore you to death. At first, I was taken aback with the flow of the story. But as I go on reading it, I was more compelled to read more and nibble every word of it. It is different from LOTR. The story was laid out nearly as much as possible with reality with a little touch of magic. Every character has his/her own strengths and weaknesses. You will love and hate them at the same time. You can relate with one of the characters and root for him/her. It tackles about the politics of the realm; being true to your words; about love. Family.Duty.Honor. Those are important and must be upheld for WINTER IS COMING.
Hmmm there are some cheesy lines and typical banters but whoa marital issues? HahaaOnce you get through the cheesy parts, the action begins. Interesting.
i was unsure that i would like this book when my book club/forum have chosen this, actually won the votes, i was hesistant to join in reading this book. pero ng nasimulan ko na, i was amazed how it got me hooked and had this interest to follow the story. fully entertained ako sa mga kwento dito. sabi ko nga parang karinderya na naka latag halos lahat ng putahe. gusto ko rin kung paano nilatag ng author yung istorya nya at kung paano nya na-inculcate yung mga natutunan nya from her grandparent's stories. i felt like a child na kinukwentuhan ng lolo o ng lola. how i envy those who had those kind of memories with their old people. superb book!
Lily Blake brought back my fairy-tale reading days when I was a child. She wrote the book too lovely with short and easy-to-read sentences. Just like how fairy-tale books were written. I love this book!
Well at first, I thought this book would take me into an adventure but it turned out that this is an allegory on politics. Nah, im not into that. But, great concept of the author.
first: i was curious when i read the summary of this book and thought. "why not read something different?". As the story reveals itself, i got curious even more. this book is thought-provoking especially now how the world spins about the sexuality of a person. This book offers more than that. It delved about spirituality, social opinions, and more. I like how the author ended her novel. It made me ponder "who and what and how i really am as me living in this world." maybe i can even write a better review when i get back on my laptop. quite a task to type it all on mobile. What defines a person? How do circumstances mold a human being?Nice plot to work on.
Kay Scarpetta is one of the earliest mystery heroine characters. The plot is still the same as whodunit novels. But the element of Scarpetta's own life gave the story a bit of spice. The dedication of Scarpetta to ID a victim and not to account it as something as a mere evidence. Liked the twist and how it was told.
